Meghan's beliefs, friendships, and sense of self are put to the test as she faces the best and worst of humanity. Along the way, she learns the importance of forgiveness and resilience in the face of adversity. This powerful and inspiring story will keep you hooked until the very end.

I had purchased Judging Meghan thinking it was a novel written for young adults and that I was beyond its target audience. Not only was I wrong; I also must admit that this is a story that transcends audience. It is a wonderful read for the older teenage market, and in fact, I would enthusiastically encourage anyone with a teenage daughter to purchase this book for them, but I would also purchase this book for any of my peers (that is an adult female reader). This story was engaging, interesting, and I thoroughly enjoyed every page. This is the sort of book that, in my opinion, should be on every Australian secondary school list. It combines the historic environment of the great depression era with the intricacies of family dynamics. It was a terrific story that I highly recommend.’

A Gripping Tale of Love, Loss, and Sacrifice in Desolate Beauty

Elizabeth Hunter's life is complicated enough with her tumultuous relationship with her mother, school, and haunting dreams. But when Jill Waters enters her life, determined to uncover the real Elizabeth, Elizabeth embarks on a journey to discover what truly matters to her. With the help of her father and aunt, she travels from the city to a drought-stricken farm and back again, while facing tough decisions about family, love, and sacrifice. Will Elizabeth have to leave everything she knows behind to truly discover who she is?

I was recently invited to read this novel to gauge my thoughts as an English teacher and I have to say it exceeded my expectations. This is the sort of novel I wish every teenager had the opportunity to read. It covers the trivial teenage dramas to the intense, life-changing, coming-of-age challenges. … It's also a reminder to adults that when we give teens support, it can really make a difference.
